The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Android HMI Lead Engineer / Software Architect to lead the development and integration of next-generation In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) user interfaces for major vehicle programs in Cologne, Germany. Operating in a customer-facing capacity (at least 4 days onsite per week), you will collaborate directly with local automotive stakeholders and global engineering teams to deliver intuitive, high-quality Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions on Android Automotive platforms. Professional fluency in both German and English, as well as a valid German driving license, are required.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Integration & Delivery: Collaborate with global engineering teams to develop, integrate, and deliver IVI head unit software solutions that meet strict automotive quality standards and customer requirements.
• Bilingual Technical Interface: Act as a customer-facing engineer, facilitating technical discussions, requirement clarifications, and progress updates between the local customer and offshore development teams.
• Diagnostics & Bench Analysis: Reproduce and analyze reported software issues on vehicle or bench setups, collecting diagnostic data to ensure efficient resolution by offshore engineering rings.
• Root Cause & Bug Fixing: Conduct root cause analysis, critical bug fixing, and software build troubleshooting to ensure seamless project milestones.
• Risk & Status Governance: Provide regular project status updates to offshore management while proactively identifying technical dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: 10+ years of professional engineering experience within relevant automotive or embedded software fields.
• Domain Expertise: Strong expertise in Android UI development, HMI design implementation, and IVI solutions. Exposure to Android Framework concepts is highly desirable.
• Languages: B1 German language skills are mandatory, alongside business-level English proficiency.
• Mobility & Licensure: A valid German driving license is required for vehicle/bench testing access.
• Work Mode: Willingness to work onsite in Cologne for at least 4 days a week.
